EARLY CHILDHOOD

EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERVENTION

In their first few years, children learn more and at a much faster pace than at any other time in their lives.

The early childhood screening and evaluation program is designed to locate, identify, screen, and if necessary, evaluate young children, from birth through age five, who might benefit from early education services. Parental involvement is a critical part of the screening process. Parents can learn more about their child’s overall development and learning.

DIAL (Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning) Screening.

The DIAL screening is conducted twice a year and is available to all children, ages three to five who reside in the Lennox School District at no cost. The DIAL assesses readiness in the areas of motor skills, speech and language skills, cognition and concepts, and personal-social skills, and is designed to identify children who may need further testing. For children whose screen results indicate developmental concerns, multi-disciplinary evaluations are available and are conducted by certified professionals.

BIRTH TO THREE SERVICES

Infant and toddler services are available to children birth to age three who are determined to have a delay in the development through a multi-disciplinary evaluation. Screenings for Birth to Three take place in the home or daycare . Services, if needed, are provided in the home or natural setting.
