Beginning Monday, April 20, 2026, Highway 17 (S.D. Highway 44) on the south side of Lennox, near Lennox Lumber Yard, Sioux Steel, and Wilson Trailer, will be closed. The closure will extend from the south side of the Oriole Avenue intersection to the intersection of Highway 44 (280th Street) to begin the summer-long road construction project.
A signed detour route will be in place. Drivers should use 465th Avenue (west side of Lennox) and 280th Street to travel east and west along Highway 44 south of Lennox.
Oriole Avenue will be closing the day following the last day of school with students, and the entire HS parking lot is scheduled to be replaced with summer as well. Both projects are projected to be completed prior to the start of school in August.
Please plan ahead, as travel times may be longer than usual.
