Educators Rising – Short Notice Event

A great opportunity and event is happening on January 26th on the campus of Mount Marty University. Educators Rising SD and Mount Marty University have teamed up and are hosting a learning expo for future teachers. Any 9th-12th graders interested in the teaching profession are eligible to attend. Mount Marty is offering anyone who attends the learning expo a $2,000 scholarship renewable each year if they are accepted to Mount Marty. See Flyer on page 7.  See Mr. Allison by Monday, January 23 to register and line up transportation.

 

Daily Attendance

Please be sure to call the JH-HS office if your student will be late, needs to leave early or will be gone for the entire day due to illness, appointments, etc.  Darci Granum – Attendance Secretary – 647-2203 (ext. 5001)

Free, online tutoring available for K-12 students. South Dakota students and families can access a new, online tutoring program, staffed by college students who are preparing to become teachers. The Dakota Dreams Online Tutoring Program offers FREE online tutoring to K-12 students across the state. One-on-one tutoring sessions can help students with their homework, tackle specific trouble areas, and address broader educational concepts. Please note: In order to access the service, parents or guardians must register their students, not the school.

 

Winter NWEA Testing

Students in grades 7-10 will be taking the Winter NWEA tests in December and January.

The USD Dental Hygiene team will be in Lennox on Feb. 8th, 14th, and 15th. We will have them set up at either the Elementary or Intermediate school. See forms below for more information (pages 2-3)

ASVAB TESTING

This is also an optional test. Are you interested in the military? The ASVAB is the perfect way to see what kind of jobs you could qualify for if you entered the military. It is also a great way to gain knowledge about student’s interests and skills to help match you with a career choice after high school. We will be administering the ASVAB on February 1st at 8:30 AM. Please sign up with Mr. Breske. The Deadline to sign up is January 27th.  See flyer on page 4.

 

The Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation is now accepting applications for its high school scholarship program (scholarship application is attached). The Care Foundation will be awarding multiple $1,000 scholarships for graduating hgh school seniors who will be attending a technical college, or university and major in a home building industry related field of study. Scholarship recipients must reside in the service areas of Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha or Turner counties. Application deadline for the scholarships is April 3, 2023. The Care Foundation has awarded over $80,000 in scholarship funds to area high school seniors. Additional information can be found at this link: https://www.hbasiouxempire.com/foundation/scholarships/.  See flyer on page 5.
