Our 3rd graders at Worthing Elementary are diving into Dear Primo: A Letter to My Cousin, by Duncan Tonatiuh, this week to learn about point of view 📖✨! They had so much fun exploring the Spanish words in the story and even made real-world connections—like how reading menus at restaurants can help us practice language skills. 🌎🍽️ We're continually proud of their curiosity and big thinking! 💡👏
🎃 Pumpkin Surprise at School! 🎃
Students at Worthing Elementary were treated to a heartwarming surprise thanks to the generosity of Curt Aasheim. Curt, his daughter, and his grandson showed up with a truckload of pumpkins—enough for every student to take one home!
The excitement on the kids’ faces was priceless as they picked out their perfect pumpkin. The pumpkins brought a whole lot of joy and fall spirit to our school.
We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful gesture. Curt's kindness reminded us all of the power of community and giving back. Thank you for making today extra special for our students! 🍂🎃❤️

Kindergartners in Mrs. Keyman’s class put their culinary skills to the test today! As part of their apple unit, they made homemade applesauce—and loved every step of the process, especially the tasting at the end!
Second, third, and fourth graders learned about digital citizenship this week in computer class with Mrs. Ruffin. Knowing what information to share and who to share it with is a great life lesson!
The Worthing Elementary kindergarteners celebrated a whole year of learning at their graduation ceremony. The students sang musical selections they had prepared with Mrs. Davenport, received their diploma, and enjoyed a sweet treat. Congratulations, kindergartners!

Nurse Renee visited the 4th grade class today to discuss good hygiene and the amount of sugar in popular beverages. The students were surprised to see how much sugar they're drinking when enjoying these refreshments.
Lennox High School class of 2025 visited Worthing Elementary this morning for the annual Senior Walk. Students in kindergarten-4th grade congratulated the seniors on their big accomplishment! Congratulations, graduates!
One of our first grade students got a special visit from some of the high school wrestlers today. They came to congratulate him for making it to State Youth Wrestling Tournament. Good luck, Tryden! We're cheering for you!
3rd and 4th grade students had the opportunity to see the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra at the Washington Pavilion on Monday. Today they discussed their favorite part of the trip. Students also played a guessing game to figure out which staff member matched each musical talent. They had fun learning about their teachers!
Worthing Elementary School welcomed The NED Show today! The assembly taught the students to Never give up, Encourage others, and to Do your best. The students enjoyed the yo-yo tricks, magic, and humor in the show. Thank you to The NED Show for sharing this important message with our school!

LHS football players and cheerleaders visited Worthing Elementary this afternoon. The students wished them good luck at their upcoming state championship game this weekend! Go orioles! Wings up!
Students at Worthing Elementary had a great time walking in a parade around the school to show their Halloween costumes!
Students in 3rd and 4th grade had the opportunity to learn about design, construction, and operations of robots. Exploration in robotics will continue one time each month this semester.
School buses are moving traffic signals...know when to stop! Flashing amber/yellow warning lights indicate that the bus is preparing to stop. Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm indicates that a bus is stopped! Please keep our students safe and never drive through a stopped school bus with red flashing lights and an extended stop arm!
Mr. Ihler's third graders participated in a live wax museum today. Each student researched and wrote a report on a famous person from history. When someone visited them during the museum they would put some money in a container and the students would read their report. The money raised will be donated to a local charity. The students learned a lot and had so much fun!
The Lennox High School class of 2024 visited Worthing Elementary this morning for our annual Senior Walk. Our elementary students cheered them on and congratulated them on their hard work. Great job Lennox graduates!
Students at Worthing Elementary had the opportunity to travel to the Lennox High School for AgVenture Day! Students learned about animals, farm safety, and farm equipment. They also played some games and pet animals. They had a great time! Thank you Lennox Sundstrom FFA students!
Worthing Elementary 4th graders traveled to the LWC Intermediate School for a tour. Our tour guide was a former Worthing Elementary student, Griffin Hale! The students are excited to go to a new, bigger school next year.
Mrs. Smit's second graders learned about the history of the game Candy Land, then groups of students worked collaboratively to create a board game of their own. Students had a great time creating and playing the games.
